Actress eager to experience charms of New Zealand

Although she's never visited the place, actress Louisa So Yuk-wa is developing quite an affinity with New Zealand.

Earlier in the year she took part in a cooking demostration at the New Zealand Focus shop in Causeway Bay, opened by the NZ government to promote all things kiwi. And last Thursday she helped the shop celebrate its second anniversary.

"When I was invited to take part in an event at the shop last year, I was really surprised there was such a place in Hong Kong," So said.

"The New Zealand chef gave me two cookbooks and my mum and I have been studying them since."

She added that although she had never visited New Zealand, it was now at the top of her travel list. "I have heard from many friends that there is no pollution whatsoever. Living in a very polluted city, I wonder what it's like down there. I want to visit it on my next vacation, possibly this December."

In the meantime, the actress will be returning to the stage for a production with veteran TV host and actor Lawrence Cheng Dan-shui. "The story is about a guy who is diagnosed with a terminal disease and I am playing his separated wife. I know this play means a lot to Ah Dan [Cheng's nickname] and I'm happy to help him to fulfil his dream."
