| Sisters show beauty is only skin deep | ||
The Dare To Go Bare campaign kicked off with media personality Tina Lau Tin-lan, actress Louisa So Yuk-wa and designer Ranee K (Kok Chui-wah) all encouraging women to shed their beauty stereotypes and unreasonable body images. A small parade of 50 girls then marched along Nathan Road in a show of 'beauty is only skin deep' sisterhood. We certainly dig the message sponsored by Dove and Benetton, although it would have been more convincing if some of the girls were more bare and less caked in make-up. It's a dilemma fashionista Kok knows all too well. There's the ideal world where all sizes, shapes and ages can be beautiful; and then there's the reality of the size-2 fashion industry. Kok proclaims: 'I don't agree with extreme diets to stay skinny. I think exercising is the right approach. But I agree that retailers are making sizes smaller and smaller. However, I don't think I would launch a larger size line anytime soon, but I will custom tailor my clothes for any women with any figure.' |
